Recent discussion has prompted a couple ideas.
- People have wrote some things that I thought were flat-out silly and worthy of heckling. The problem with heckling in the comments is that it’s easy to read as harsh and snarky instead of good-humored ribbing. Much of that problem evaporates in audio. What if I recorded comment responses that were like mini bits; would that be interesting to anyone?
- RPGs are lousy with SJW crap. Just like a converged company, the games suffer from a series of problems which cause them to be bland, unbelievable, and uninspiring. To combat these problems game publishers have adopted coping strategies which are even worse: Some are full of un-fun nonsense that they hope no one will find offensive. Some have the idea of rules suppressed (rules actually provoke creative responses). Some just inflate character progression as if it didn’t rob from the future fun. I think I could do better, but I’m not a position to write out a whole setting or rulebook right now. And honestly I’m here for the feedback. I’m not writing to hear myself as some others do. Would anyone be interested in reading Cane’s RPG blog?
Let me know what you think in the comments.

I’m for more Cane content. Would that be a separate blog, or just blogposts tagged accordingly?
@SirH
Separate blog entirely.
I’d listen to a Cane podcast.
There was an analysis you did of the tv show The Office a while back, and I posted a link to another guy’s analysis. You said you might write some posts taking off from that. I would read more of that type of thing.
Yours is one of a few I literally check daily for updates, though I don’t comment hardly at all. In fact, this may be my first comment on your blog. So value my opinion as you will.
Idea 1: If someone says something that just demands heckling, then let it. I would only advise trying to preface any such comment with some type of humorous disclaimer or catch-phrase that you use each time. We’ll get the joke and the recipient would get bent no matter what you said anyway, so not even worry about it.
Idea 2: I would not be interested in an RPG Blog. You mentioned it would be a separate blog and I think that’s better for it. Your mission statement (more or less) for this blog has been of a specific theme. People come here for that reason. To post anything else would be… inadvisable.
I enjoy your posts, you’re doing a great job and encourage you to keep it up.
@Patrick
Those were the articles about the sociopath, loser, and clueless, right? That was a great series.
@Just Some Guy
Thanks!
Agreed.
“Would anyone be interested in reading Cane’s RPG blog?”
I would because that’s my primary avenue for finding male spaces/friendships. Hard to meet guys in a serious gym and forget about church. For now, I don’t post much on specifically Catholic blogs because the gulf in Prot/Cat worldviews is practically a language barrier. But I lurk on just about everything Dalrock links to.
RPGs certainly have fodder for exploring SJWs and territory marking. I’ve learned to mentally correct genders while I read.
Yeah that was the one.
Would anyone be interested in reading Cane’s RPG blog?
Very interested.
@NSR
I’m leaning towards it (but not the humor videos). If it goes forward I’ll put a link on this site.
